Green Psalm

By Ivory Slate·12 July 2026

seeds sleep under black earth,
rains knock; roots begin their climb,
green blade parts brown crust.

beans scale their straw poles,
every bloom feeds small wings,
peach after peach turns sweet.

labor bends backs; faith waits.
feast comes; every table sings,
thank black earth; thank light.
