Five-letter poetry

First Light

By Ivory Slate·18 June 2026

dawns break above quiet towns,
frost turns every field white.
birds begin their small hymns,
smoke curls above brick homes.

light slips under heavy doors,
wakes small hands, wakes green vines,
gives weary roads amber grace.

today began while world slept;
stand still, taste these early hours.
