Ember Hours

By Hazel Thorn·25 June 2026

night pools heavy round eaves,
clock keeps count; flame keeps faith.
cocoa steam warms tired hands,
paper turns, story opens doors.

amber light licks stone walls,
shade sways, coals pulse dimly.

sleep waits among these hours;
dream after dream slips loose,
night gives minds their wings.
